The team will debut with the new RTL Electric motorcycle and rider Miquel Gelabert in the intermediate class.

Honda, in addition to aiming for consecutive championships with the ice machine in TrialGP, “Honda Montesa” will expand its presence in the world of trial with a new project in Trial2, incorporating an electric motorcycle into its structure for the first time. The team, with a long history of success in the discipline, will compete with the new RTL Electric, a model designed to compete on equal terms with combustion engine machines.

To lead this ambitious project, the team will field Miquel Gelabert, a 27-year-old rider with a solid career in the discipline to date. Gelabert was European champion in 2016, demonstrating his talent and determination in each competition. His experience and skills will be key to taking the RTL Electric to the top.

This project has its roots in the development started last season in the Japanese Championship. The RTL Electric debuted in the sixth round of the year, taking three victories in the three events in which it was used. Honda is committed to the electrification of motorcycles as the mainstay of its future environmental strategy, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality in all of its products and corporate activities by 2050, and in all of its motorcycle products by the 2040s.

The objective of the new “Honda Montesa” team for 2025 is to get the Trial 2 title as the challenging to World Championships, and accelerate EV development at a high level, and mark a milestone in the history of trial. The introduction of the RTL Electric represents a technological advance in the sport. The motorcycle’s official debut will be at the first round of the season, on April 5th and 6th in Benahavís (Spain) -a highly demanding venue.

“I'm very grateful to Honda for trusting me for this new project. It's an honour to be part of a company with such a long history and to be surrounded by great professionals within Honda Montesa. The RTL Electric is an innovative motorcycle and its development has been incredible. We know that the challenge will be very demanding, but we are working hard to be competitive from the first round.”
