Miquel Gelabert will ride this weekend with the RTL Electric in Benahavís, Málaga.
The 2025 Trial2 World Championship will kick off on April 4th in Benahavís, Málaga, marking the beginning of a new era for Honda in trial competition with the addition of the RTL Electric. The Andalusian town will also make its first appearance as a venue, having hosted the Spanish championship for several years. This season, the inaugural event of the international competition, will be held in this impressive mountainous terrain.
Miquel Gelabert, who has a long history in the discipline, having achieved runner-up position in the Trial2 World Championship in 2015, will head the Honda Montesa project. With a solid track record in top-level competitions, the Spaniard faces this new challenge with great determination and the clear goal of taking the title at the end of the year.
Honda Montesa have developed the RTL Electric project to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and innovation within the world of trial. This model aims to compete among the elite of trials, providing Gelabert with the necessary tools to fight for the intermediate category title.
There will also be significant changes to the regulations. Starting in 2025, the laps of the course will be called ‘races,’ and the maximum time allowed in each section will be reduced from 90 to 60 seconds. In terms of championship points, they will now be awarded twice a day, at the end of each race.
The 2025 season will feature seven events; after Málaga, the riders will compete in Viana do Castelo (Portugal), Motegi (Japan), Calvi (France), Baldasserrona (San Marino), Rhode Island (United States), and Geddington (Great Britain).

“I'm ready. We've trained hard, and have a positive feeling. I'm approaching the Trial2 World Championship with plenty of motivation and ambition. The first race will be key to truly seeing where we stand. For the team and me, this is a new stage, and we're ready. I feel safe and confident, although I'm aware that unforeseen events may arise. However, with the team I have, I feel calm and optimistic, because I know that together we can achieve great things.”

“We're coming in with a lot of motivation and eager to see where we are after these months of work. This is a very important and ambitious project for Honda. We know there's still a long way to go, but Miquel has adapted perfectly to the bike and is ready to race at the highest level. The bike is also in great condition for the competition, and we're going to give it our all. The goal is to reach the end of the year with a chance of fighting for the title, so the whole team will work hard to achieve that.”
