Miquel Gelabert is in ninth place overall and his goal will be to take RTL Electric to the top in Portugal.
The second round of the Trial2 World Championship of the season 2025 will take place this weekend in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) where Miquel Gelabert arrives ninth overall. It will be the first time that the Portuguese town hosts an international event and the Honda Montesa will be looking to improve the results acquired in the opening round in Benahavís, Málaga, where the Catalan rider achieved his best result, fourth, with the RTL Electric in Saturday’s race.
Gelabert didn’t get off to the start he expected in Spain. Despite more positive results on the second day, and even coming close to the podium, he missed out on the rostrum that had been his goal for the weekend. For this second round, he will look to improve his feeling and fight for a place in the Top 3.
The Honda Montesa team faces the second round of the season with maximum motivation and eager to demonstrate that both the RTL Electric and Gelabert have the ability to fight for the top positions. They currently sit ninth overall with 30 points.
Friday will see technical and administrative scrutineering, in addition to site visits and practice. The races will take place on Saturday and Sunday, with the TR2 category riders taking on the Viana do Castelo terrain for the first time.

“After the bad feeling we were left with last weekend, having another opportunity in Portugal is something that really motivates me to turn things around. We have a great team and a bike with a lot of potential, so it will be important to iron out some of the mistakes we made in Málaga. We're going into these races with more experience; it's a class where points are very tight, and it's important to be cautious because the slightest mistake can drop you many positions. The strategy will be to focus on riding and giving 100%.”
Carles Barneda
“We're coming to Portugal with a lot of motivation. We know that Viana do Castelo is a new terrain for everyone, but we're confident about the potential of both Miquel and the RTL Electric. In Benahavís, we already showed that we can fight for the podium positions, and that will be the goal this weekend. The team have worked well throughout the week, and we're ready to take a step forward.”
