Miquel Gelabert will look to win with the RTL Electric in Japan, in the bike’s debut season in the Trial2 World Championship.
The Trial2 World Championship returns to action after a four-week break with the third round of the season, which will take place from May 16-18th at Mobility Resort Motegi, Japan. Honda Montesa head into this important event with high expectations, as it will be the first time they compete outside of Europe with the RTL Electric, ridden by Miquel Gelabert.
The Japanese round will be one of the most important events of the season for the team, as it will be the world championship debut of the new electric project in the ‘home’ of Honda, the place where it was born. Miquel Gelabert arrives with the utmost confidence after showing a solid progression in the last competition rounds.
The Spanish rider currently holds third place in the championship standings, thanks to a strong performance at the last round in Viana do Castelo (Portugal), where he achieved his first victory with the RTL Electric and a second place finish over the two days. These results allowed him to recover from a poor start at the opening round in Málaga.
The third round of the season will begin on Friday with technical and administrative scrutineering, as well as site visits and practice. The races will begin on Saturday and Sunday at 9am.

“These weeks off have gone very well, because we've had some very intense months of work, so we're back feeling recharged. We've trained very hard, I'm feeling very good on the bike, and we hope to put in a great performance in Japan. It's Honda's home race, so we're under extra pressure, but we're confident about the work we've done. We'll take it step by step during the races and try to enjoy the weekend, which will be key to achieving a good result. The goal is to repeat or improve the results from Portugal. It won't be easy because it's a very tightly contested class, but we're ready to give it our all.”
Carles Barneda
"These first two rounds have helped us get our bearings and understand what aspects we need to continue improving. From now on, the key will be to be efficient and consistent if we want to stay in the title fight. The goal is clear: To close the gap on our rivals at every race, and if that means winning, then even better. Racing in Japan, Honda's home, adds pressure, but also motivates us greatly. It's a unique opportunity to showcase the potential of the RTL Electric."
